The research have been carried out in parallel in the two universities in Poland and Norway. Laboratory and small-pilot scale facilities have also been established in the two universities. Several visits to each other with senior and juniors scientists have been successfully conducted. Both UWM and UMB have extensive laboratory facilities which was used by the project at no additional costs.

The work was organised as five Work Packages with specific allocation of resources and
responsibilities. UWM used the Reszel WWTP as the test WWTP to demonstrate and evaluate the results of the project. Reszel has a capacity of 900t/day and is easily accessible from the UWM. NMBU have done full scale testing at a WWTP at Drøbak (Frogn WWTP), which is in the same size as Reszel and easily accessible from NMBU.
